Peace Community Ministries

Peace Community Ministries is a holistic, Progressive Christian organization, promoting advocacy, friendship and practical support for those in need.

The mission of Peace Community Ministries is:

 - to create community through a variety of ministries (i.e. worship, weddings, baptisms, funerals/memorial services);

 - to speak up for the disadvantaged, befriending and encouraging individuals and communities living with poverty and injustice;
 - to support people in practical ways (i.e. providing refurbished computers to families who can't afford one; by working with local food and clothing banks; providing affordable health services, through the healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu®), as well as through meaningful giving;
 - to support Peace Community Chapel, as a house of worship for those who have not found a faith community, and to promote unity among all.

About Pastor Don

Don Adams is an independent, non-denominational minister, and was very active growing up in the United Methodist Church in Sunday School, as an acolyte, teaching Vacation Bible School, and in Youth Ministry.  During his college years, he held leadership positions with the interdenominational Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and was active in campus ministry. Later, Don served for many years in Lay Ministry; as Lay Leader in a United Methodist congregation, leading various ministries, including a Taped Ministry, which brought taped copies of worship services to the sick and shut-in. After serving as Lay Leader for nearly ten years, Don answered the call to pastoral ministry, was licensed for Pastoral Ministry in the United Methodist Church and was appointed to his home church as the Associate Pastor. He then served as pastor to a small New England church and his own congregation.

In 2012, he decided to shift focus in order to pursue his primary calling - to provide pastoral care to those who have not found a faith community or to those who reject or were rejected by the corporate church, and to promote unity among all humankind. Don was ordained by Unitarian Ministries International (later, the Unitarian Christian Emerging Church),  and launched Peace Community Ministries, a holistic, progressive Christian organization, promoting advocacy, friendship and practical support for those in need.

Don ministers widely to the Body of Christ, and views a call to discipleship as the integration of two journeys in community--an inward journey to grow in love of God, self and others and an outward journey to help a world in need.

He has a special place in his heart for ministry to seniors and the elderly, an often forgotten and cast-aside population.

God's calling has led Don in many directions, including:
pastoral ministry, weddings, vow renewals, baptisms, baby blessings, funerals, memorial services, grief support and spiritual guidance. He has been a
family pastoral care provider, small group coordinator, educational director, marriage counselor, wedding coordinator, children's minister, associate pastor and senior pastor. He's even been called to offer support to those suffering crisis with their pets. All God’s creatures, big and small, offer and need love and support.

Along with his work in the church, Pastor Don also serves the community as co-owner (with his wife, Mitzi) of a holistic health practice called Jin Shin Jyutsu® of Greenwich/NYC.

Don, his wife Mitzi, and their two cats, Farley and Richie, make their home in Milford, CT. Contact Pastor Don by phone (203.829.4767) or
